SAMR Model
SAMR model
The SAMR model is a framework that helps teachers to integrate technology into their teaching in a way that enhances and transforms learning. It stands for Substitution, Augmentation, Modefication and Redinition.
Lesson plan
Teacher name: Thinley Pema
Subject: Social studies
Topic: Kings of Bhutan
Class: IV
Duration: 45 minutes
Teaching learning materials
PowerPoints presentation, video link, images, digital tools(i.e Mentimeter), google docs and textbook, in ICT lab.
ICT model: SAMR model
Previous knowledge
They have learned about different name of our country and also learned that our country has 5 kings namely: Ugyen Wangchuck, Jigme Wangchuck, Jigme Nmagay Wangchuck, Jigme Singye Wangchuck and Jigme Kheaser Namgay Wangchuck.
Lesson objectives
By the end of the lesson, children will be able to;
Identify 5 kings of Bhutan accurately after the teacher's demonstration( cognitive domain).
type the answer on time(quiz) after teachers instruction(psychomotor domain).
Remember the important dates and contribution made by each king without any errors( affective domain).
Lesson introduction( 5 minutes)
Since students already have some knowledge about 5 kings of Bhutan, we can display images of kings randomly on PowerPoint and let the students guess the name of the king.
Lesson development(35 minutes)
We can discuss our kings: when were they born? Years? From whom? Death? With images displayed on PowerPoint presentations. And after that we can show some of the contributions made by each king in the form of video.

Activity 1(15 minutes)
Since students have watched the video on contributions made by each king, now they have to do these activities in order to relate and remember. Teachers divide students in the 5 groups of 4 members and let them pick a draw( 5 kings of Bhutan).
Instruction
Whichever group gets the respective king( for instance Ugye Wangchuck), they have to do work on that topic.
Students need to write some of the contributions made by each king on google docs.
They must have at least 4 points since each group has 4 members.
Whichever group completes first has to say “raise hand” so that they don’t disturb other groups.
If there is some group who don’t finish work on time, give them an extra 3 minutes.
After that they need to present their work to the classroom and others can comment on the work.
There will be a chance of misheard instruction so let random students repeat the instruction.
Monitor
When students ingroup are doing their respective work, go around the group and supervise whether all the members are contributing their points or not.
Follow up activity
After all groups complete their work, let them share their works to the classroom and let other groups make comments.
Assessment
When each group comments on other groups, see if they comment correctly or not because there is a chance that some groups may comment incorrectly.
Activity 2
In these activities, they have to do online quizzes on their respective computers.

Then type ‘mentimeter.com’ and click it.
After that they have to type the room code ‘77039893’. Or
Click on the link.
And answer the question.
Whoever gets all answers correct will be awarded.
Monitor
While students are doing the activity, go around them as they may face difficulty in log in.
Lesson closure
Let them watch the video to highlight their understanding and importance.
